University upgrades Student MIS to PowerCAMPUS 7.3.3

8th January 2012

MNU has upgraded its student information system to PowerCampus 7.3.3 which provides additional functionalities for students and staff (faculty) to provide an enhanced learning experience for all. MNU has been using PowerCAMPUS version 5.2 at first before a recent upgrade to version 6.3.4.

About the new version, the Registrar, Ms Aishath Ali said: “In the new version, the IQ.Web is known as Self-Service. Students will find that the new improved interface of Self-Service gives them an enhanced experience of being online. Self-service also allows online student application and registration, online submission of assignments, management of enquiries, payments and alumni. There are additional functionalities which will be gradually made available throughout 2012. Staff will also find that the new interface is much easier to use and manage. Online registration will do away with the forms that are currently being used to approve registration. I hope that the improved web interface will encourage staff to utilize the functionalities of Course Home Pages and Discussion Boards to invoke discussion and thinking. Together with the Information Technology Services, I will be organizing familiarization sessions for the staff in the coming weeks.”

PowerCAMPUS administrator, Ms Sinaau and the staff of ITS have been working assiduously for the past few months to make the new version available for the 2012 academic year. PowerCAMPUS is a higher education management information system that is used in over 800 colleges and universities which altogether enrolls more than 5 million students. MNU has been using the system since 2003. The system manages student applications, registrations, financials and graduations. Although capable, the human resources and alumni functions had not been implemented in MNU earlier. It was the second most expensive software used in the Maldives at the time of initial implementation.
